Well, hello! Long time no read! I have been so busy working on our rental home since the renters moved out on July 1. We had so much to fix and change to make it market ready! I went there every day with the 3 kids and I feel like we wasted half the summer there, but the house is on the market now and we’re crossing our fingers that it sells fast! Here’s what I’ve been up to the last month and a half!
Some things that we fixed and updated on the home were refinishing the wood floors, updating to stainless steel appliances, new light fixtures, every room has fresh paint, adding hardware to the kitchen cabinets, and repairing some walls.
The kitchen before was outdated with green countertops and bisque appliances. The cabinets were original to the home, but lack character. They were screaming for an update! Add a little bit of trim and some hardware and they’re looking a lot better now.
We updated the light fixture and added some moulding to the ceiling over the cabinets to draw your eye up and give the feel of custom cabinets. A cheaper option than buying all new cabinets!!
I will add a tutorial on how to add the trim and hardware to plain cabinets to customize them a bit in another post so watch for that! The wall color is Revere Pewter by Benjamin Moore and the cabinets and wainscoting is Oxford White by Benjamin Moore.
Here’s the kitchen before..
The living room floors were refinished which wasn’t as easy as I planned, but they do look glossy! Add some fresh paint and the room is looking brighter! Watch for the tutorial on how to do your own wood floor refinishing. Now to the living room before and after!
The upstairs was really dark with wood paneling on the walls so I painted it a soft yellow to brighten the space. The stairs were uncovered by the renters because the carpet was nasty so they were stained dark walnut and polyed for a gorgeous shine!
So there ya go! That’s a small tour of the before and after of our rental that we bought back in 2004. Now it’s on the market for $179,500 which still isn’t what we paid for it 12 years ago! If you’re in the market for a home in the Saint Paul, MN area, come check it out!
Cross your fingers that it sells quickly! Thanks for reading, now go to bed. 🙂
