How to Make a Beautiful Chunky Necklace for a Princess

The new fashion trend I’ve seen around for little girl’s are chunky, bubblegum necklace. With our upcoming vow renewal, I knew I needed to make each one of the girls a new necklace to wear with their dress! Do you have someone to make one for? If you do, here’s a tutorial!

Things you need:

  • Bead Crimper
  • Soft Flex .014 Bead Wire
  • Clasp
  • Your choice of chunky beads 18mm-20mm
  • Bead Spacers
  • Scissors
  • 2 Crimp Beads

Most little girls around the age of 5 will be good with an 18″ necklace. Subtract a few inches or add a few inches depending on the age, but that’s a good starting point.

Start by cutting your wire to the desired length. On one end, slide on a crimp bead and one side of the clasp and thread the wire back through the crimp bead. Pull the wire tight and use your crimper to crimp the bead so it holds the wire together. Figure out your pattern and lay it out so you can see how the beads look together before you start.

Thread on the first bead and make sure both wires thread through the first bead and the next one if it’s long enough. After each big bead, put on a spacer bead. A quarter of the way in, I put on a flower bead a little off center to make it really girly. Repeat all the way until the end.

After the last bead is on, slide on a crimp bead along with the other side of the clasp. Thread the wire back through the crimp bead, pull it tight, and use your crimpers to crimp the crimp bead so it holds the end of the necklace together. Pull the extra wire through the next bead to hide it.

All that’s left is to put it on the princess who deserves to wear it and let her shine!

I can’t wait until my girls enjoy theirs on our special day!!
